Raised in a strong Christian home and rooted in a supportive local church, these early influences laid the foundation for Pastor Josh's calling to ministry as a young man. This clear sense of purpose led him to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry at Regent University, where he met his future wife Rachel, and started attending Riverbend Church.
After serving as Riverbend’s youth and youth adult pastor for 8 years, and a year long transition process with Riverbend’d founding pastor, Dr. Bobby Hill, the elders of Riverbend laid hands on Pastor Josh and Rachel, and Riverbend welcomed Pastor Josh as our new lead pastor.

Riverbend Church started as a vision in the heart of Bobby and Carrie Hill, who dreamed of a vibrant, life-giving church that would be located in North Suffolk while impacting the region and world.
In January, 2012 a small core of people began building relationships and developing leadership skills under the founding pastor’s instruction and mentorship. On Easter weekend, April 7, 2012 Riverbend Church launched public services on Saturday evenings in a rented church facility in Western Branch section of Chesapeake.
